Using my DVR

Thanks for the guest blog, Jimmy Nerrin

Over the past five years, I feel that one of the most significant technological advancements has been the DVR. As an avid television watcher, I hated having to choose between watching my favorite television program and having to sacrifice something in either my personal and professional life. Since skipping social and professional events was not always an option, I was forced to either record through an old VCR or watch shows online on a small laptop monitor.

Now that I have a DVR, I use the recorder for many different tasks. My primary focus is to record my favorite television shows. I set up series recordings for all of these so I do not have to think about it each week. I also will flip through the premium channels that I get to see if any intriguing movies are on. If those are on when times I can’t watch them, I will record them as well. Another huge benefit to me is that I no longer have to watch commercials. This cuts up to a third off my television watching time.

To me, there could never be enough room on my DVR. When I was looking for my satellite tv package, I selected my satellite TV option partially because the DVR had by far the available space. To me, this is important because I like having the option to re-watch my favorite shows as often as I want.
